The Cullen Family Charity exists to defend and support life — especially single mothers and their babies — by turning a 3-century-old family homestead into housing, education, and hope.

Where it began
Built around 1713 on Old River Road in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the Whipple-Cullen House is a two-and-a-half story wood-frame farmhouse, five bays wide, with a large central chimney and a gable roof — one of the town's least-altered eighteenth-century homes.
A rear addition and a nineteenth-century side porch were added over the generations, and the barn just north of the house, dating to the late 1800s, is a rare survivor of Lincoln's agrarian past. A former farm shed to the south now serves as a garage.
The property sits directly across from the Lincoln town offices, and has been part of the fabric of the town for nearly three centuries.
A family's gift
John and Barbara Cullen are excited about the opportunity to donate the Whipple-Cullen homestead to the Cullen Family Charity — entrusting the home their family has cared for since the 1713 to a new mission: sheltering mothers and children who need a place to stay.
The gift is expected to be completed in late 2026. Until then, the charity is focused on helping partner pro-life organizations, and in the planning stages, preparing for the day the farmstead opens its doors to moms in need.
What began as a family home in 1713 will soon become a home for pregnant mothers who need it most — a continuation of the same land, the same shelter, in service of a new generation.
Why we exist
We promote pro-life causes by directly supporting single mothers and their babies — through housing, education, and related charitable services.
We are preserving and putting to use the historic Whipple-Cullen Farmstead as a facility to meet the housing and related needs of single mothers and their children.
We solicit, receive, and administer contributions, grants, and property so that every gift is put faithfully toward these charitable purposes.
